Dr. Manish Raizada

Principal Investigator (University of Guelph)

Manish N. Raizada received his B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario (Genetics) and Ph.D. from Stanford University (Plant Molecular Genetics). He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph, Canada. Dr. Raizada is Founder of SAKGlobal (SAKs, Sustainable Agriculture Kits), an effort to bring $1 technologies to the world’s 1 billion subsistence farmers who earn $1/day. In this project, Dr. Raizada leads a team that aims to help Nepalese farmers reduce their need for synthetic nitrogen fertilizer, in part by optimizing biological nitrogen fixation. Dr. Raizada is also leading the project’s extension efforts (SAK Picture Book and SAK extension book).
